Characteristics Akita Distillery, on the island of Honshu, is located on the coast of the Sea of Japan and extends east into the Ou Mountains, Japan's largest mountain range. It is from these mountains that etsu double orange gets its freshness and distinctive aromas. For seven days, traditional botanicals such as orange peel, juniper, licorice, angelica roots and coriander are steeped in the gin. Then, the gin is distilled without the herbs to allow the oils to incorporate and fresh water from the mountain is added.
